Registration FAQs

How much does it cost to play?

Our baseball and softball player fee for each season is $240. Our co-ed rookie league for 3-4 year old players is $175.

NYBSA is a not-for-profit organization. Registration fees are used to cover all the league's operating expenses (i.e. field maintenance, field lights, player uniforms, trophies, insurance, or other administrative needs).

What is included with my registration?

Each baseball and softball player will receive the following each season:

  • A fun, competitive baseball/softball season with a chance to learn and fall in love with the game.
  • Team practices for player development, 10-12 regular season games, and an end of the season tournament
  • Player uniforms: Sublimated jerseys with player last name, pants, baseball cap, and belt
  • End of season tournament winner/runner-up trophies for our older divisions. Participation trophies for our T-Ball league
  • Discounts and deals to local business sponsors, including baseball/softball clinics and camps.
  • An exclusive 20% off coupon to Dick's Sporting Goods that is valid during evaluation weekends.

Are there any additional fees associated with registration?

Non-Resident Fee: NYBSA operates in partnership with Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation. Per GCAA, all program participants who reside outside of Gwinnett County will be assessed a non-resident feel of $90 per person, per sport, per season. This is a mandatory fee that Gwinnett County collects from NYBSA at the start of each season.

What if I missed the registration deadline?

NYBSA strives to provide every interested player an opportunity to play each season. However, late registration requests may not be honored due to available space left in a league, uniform order deadlines, or situations that may disrupt balanced team distributions. We STRONGLY recommend that all interested participants register prior to the registration deadline to guarantee a spot on a team.

Is my child guaranteed to be on a team?

Yes, every registered player will be placed on a team regardless of age or talent-level. NYBSA makes every effort to ensure league teams are as fair and balanced as possible. To do this, we use coach-run evaluation sessions to assess each player's skills (hitting, throwing, fielding) and a formal player draft.

What league will my child play in?

Placement in baseball and softball leagues is determined by age. For baseball, the controlling date for a player's age is May 1st. For softball, the controlling date for a player's age is September 1st.

What if I want my child to play-up or play-down a league?

For safety reasons, NYBSA strongly discourages players from playing in a different age group; however, we consider play-up or play-down requests on a case-by-case basis. All participants requesting to play-up or play-down must be assessed by coaches in both leagues during evaluations. League commissioners will make final decisions based on skill level AND available space in each league.

If you wish for NYBSA to consider a request to play-up or play-down, please email the baseball or softball commissioner and Player Agent prior to the first evaluation date.

Can I request my child be put on the same team as his/her friends?

To ensure team parity in our leagues, NYBSA does not honor requests for friends to be tethered to other friends' teams. The only instance where two players may be tethered together is if both players are the children of the two volunteer coaches on the team.

What if I need to cancel my child's registration?

NYBSA can honor cancellation requests up until the end of registration each season. If you need to cancel your registration, please email the Board at nybsa01@gmail.com.
