League Overview

Norcross Youth Softball, a league within the Norcross Youth Baseball and Softball Association, is a recreational and travel softball program with more than 30 years of providing a great experience for girls and families. Currently, there are playing opportunities at Recreational, All-Star, and Travel levels. Girls can begin playing at the age of 3 in co-ed Rookie, through 18 in the Senior Division.

Recreational softball is offered during both the Spring and Fall seasons, plus an optional Summer All-Stars.

  • We play 10-14 games per season
  • We strive for team sizes of 10-13 players
  • All games are played at Pinckneyville Park

League Philosophy

Norcross Youth Baseball is supported by dedicated volunteers who are committed to creating a positive experience for every player and family. Our goal is help young men develop their softball skills, grow their confidence on and off the field, make meaningful relationships and friendships.

We achieve our goals by embracing a philosophy of Teaching, without expectation…

  • Important lessons associated with good sportsmanship, competition, and teamsmanship
  • Baseball fundamentals and game skills
  • A lifelong love for the game

Core tenets of our program include:

  • Board members, coaches, parents, and players are expected to follow the NYBSA Code of Conduct
  • Players will not sit out more than 1 inning per game
  • Managers are encouraged to rotate the positions that children play to learn new skills
  • Families are expected to support their players and teams as needed during games, helping with scoring, and other team support roles.

Program Details

Registration

  • Registration for our programs can be accomplished either in person or online
  • Registration fees vary by season and help cover the costs associated with operating the program, including field maintenance, umpires, equipment, uniforms, insurance, player development clinics, coach education, and other league expenses.

Evaluations

  • Every player that registers will be placed on a team. Norcross baseball uses player evaluations and a draft process each season to ensure even team are created.
  • Requests for players "play up or down" are decided after registration is complete. Decisions to allow a player to play up or play down is a combined decision between coaches and the commissioner/director

Practices and Games

  • NYBSA adheres to the rules set forth by USA Little League Baseball. Program specific rules for each division are linked at the top of this page.
  • Teams will have, at a minimum, two games per week: one on a weeknight and one on Saturday. In-season practices are at the discretion of the League Commissioner.
  • Pitching: Pony, Major, and Minor leagues are exclusively kid-pitch. Our Pee-Wee league offers combined coach-pitch and kid-pitch (Innings 1, 2 and 5 are coach pitch, innings 3 and 4 are kid-pitch). Tee-Ball is coach-pitch only.

Equipment

Team jerseys, hats, pants, a belt, and socks are provided for each registered player. Players should bring the following equipment:

  • Teeball, Peewee, Minor, and Major leagues allow any metal or composite bat that includes a “USA Baseball” stamp or a “USSSA BPF 1.15” stamp. Wood bats that are in good condition are also allowed. Pony/Senior league bats vary by age and division, so it is recommended that team coaches be consulted before purchasing bats in those leagues.
  • Cleats (no metal spikes)
  • Glove
  • Batting helmet with "C-Flap" (recommended for Pony, Major, and Minor leagues) or a face-mask (recommended for Pee-Wee and Tee-Ball leagues).
